Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 4811 Bellfort Avenue about 6 p.m. on Wednesday (July 9).
The suspect, Daniel Tevante Comick, 22, is charged with murder in the 262nd State District Court. A booking photo of Comick is attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim, 56, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives S. Chettry and H. Martinez reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in a parking lot at the above address. Officers found a male suffering from a gunshot wound and paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him deceased.
Officers with the Southeast Patrol Division’s Crime Suppression Team identified Comick as the suspect in this incident. Officers then located the suspect at an area hospital, where he was receiving treatment for an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.  Officers detained him without incident.
Investigators consulted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and Comick was subsequently charged and arrested for his role in this shooting.
