Investigation into Child’s Death at 3131 Hayes Road

Houston police are investigating the apparent accidental drowning of a juvenile female found at 3131 Hayes Road about 12:05 a.m. today (July 25).
The identity of the female, 5, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Nielsen and Detective R. Waterwall reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a drowning call at an apartment complex’s pool at the above address. Officers learned a juvenile female was found unresponsive in the pool. Two witnesses quickly pulled her out of the water, called 911 and attempted to perform CPR. Responding paramedics pronounced the child deceased.
Investigators interviewed the child’s family and reviewed surveillance video and learned the child left her residence and gained access to the pool area.
At this time there does not appear to be any signs of foul play.
