Investigation into Fatal Crash at 5300 South Loop East

Houston police are investigating the fatal auto-pedestrian crash at 5300 South Loop East (South Interstate Highway 610 East) about 9:55 p.m. on Monday (Aug. 18).
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer T. Johnson reported:
A silver Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound at the above address when a pedestrian entered the freeway. The vehicle struck the pedestrian. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
The male driver, 34, of the Nissan was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. He did not show signs of intoxication
The investigation is ongoing.
