Investigation into Fatal Crash at 6120 South Loop East

Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 6120 South Loop East (South Interstate Highway 610) about 10:10 p.m. on Monday (September 22).
The identity of the deceased male, 54, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Barrow and Officer T. Johnson reported:
The driver of a white Infiniti QX60 was traveling on the south loop when he struck the dividing wall between the westbound and eastbound lanes of the loop. After the vehicle struck the wall, according to witnesses, the driver exited his vehicle and entered the roadway to pick up debris from his vehicle. The driver of a gray Jeep Renegade, also traveling on the south loop, struck the male with its left side mirror, knocking the male to the ground. A black GMC Sierra pickup truck then struck the male.
The male was pronounced dead at the scene by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics.
Both the driver of the Jeep and the GMC remained at the scene, did not show signs of intoxication, and were questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
