HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Finlay and B. Stephens reported:
Officers responded to a report of a robbery and carjacking in the 6300 block of Skyline Drive and met with a male who stated his vehicle had been taken by force by three Hispanic male suspects, one who was armed with a rifle. The victim stated two of the suspects fled in his vehicle while the third suspect, armed with the rifle, fled in a black four-door sedan.
While officers were investigating this incident, they were flagged down by a citizen who stated there was a male lying on the sidewalk nearby. Officers responded to the above address and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Additional investigation determined that after the robbery on Skyline Drive, the suspect armed with a rifle drove west to the corner of Unity Drive and Skyline Drive. There he attempted to rob the victim. The victim attempted to defend himself but was shot by the suspect. The suspect was identified as Aguilar.
With the assistance of the South Gessner Patrol and Southwest Patrol Tactical Units, detectives were able to locate the suspect’s black vehicle as well as the vehicle taken in the prior robbery. On Monday (September 22) Southwest Patrol tactical officers attempted to make contact with Aguilar and he fled in a motor vehicle and then attempted to flee on foot. He was taken into custody and booked into the Harris County Jail.
Through the investigation, detectives were able to determine the identity of the other two suspects who accompanied Aguilar on the carjacking. On Tuesday (September 23) members of the South Gessner Patrol and South Gessner Patrol Tactical Team arrested Aguilar and the juvenile male suspect. Aguilar was booked into the Harris County Jail.
The three suspects, the juvenile male, Aguilar-Soriano and Aguilar, are believed to have committed additional violent crimes on or around September 21 using a black Infiniti G35 sedan and a short barrel AR-15 rifle with a white tip. Anyone with information on the robbery or shooting incidents is asked to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
