Investigation into Fatal Crash at 900 East Loop North

Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 900 East Loop North (East Interstate Highway 610) about 7:30 a.m. today (Oct. 15).
The identity of the deceased male, 59, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer R. McLemore reported:
The driver of a red Volvo tractor-trailer had parked on the shoulder when the vehicle began having mechanical issues. The driver (victim) got out of his vehicle and attempted to address the issue when the vehicle began rolling forward. The victim was then struck by the vehicle. Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.
No other persons or vehicles were involved in this crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
