Investigation into Fatal Crash at 5400 East Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5400 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 5:45 a.m. Friday (October 24).
The identity of the deceased female, 43, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer M. Matthews reported:
A white Honda Accord was traveling southbound on Solo Street, ran a stop sign, crossed the feeder road, then went airborne and landed on the freeway. The Honda crashed into other vehicles, causing a chain reaction that involved a white Chevrolet van, a white Chevrolet Silverado, a blue Chevrolet Silverado and a black GMC Sierra.
Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the driver of the Honda deceased at the scene.
The male driver and female passenger in the white Chevrolet Silverado were transported to an area hospital in critical condition. The drivers of the white Chevrolet van and blue Chevrolet Silverado were also transported to an area hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
