Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting Incident at 6800 Gessner Road

Charges have been filed against a suspect in a shooting incident that injured an HPD officer in the 6800 block of Gessner Road about 10:40 p.m. on Saturday (November 22).
The suspect, Homero Reyes, 23, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 178th Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Reyes is attached to this news release.
HPD Officer J. Parker discharged his weapon. He suffered a gunshot wound and was transported in stable condition. Officer Parker was sworn in as an officer in March 2024 and is assigned to the Northwest Patrol Division.
HPD Special Investigations Unit Detectives C. Walker, H. Le, and B. Rusher reported:
An HPD officer was driving his personal vehicle when a disturbance ensued with occupants of another vehicle. As the officer was traveling southbound on Gessner Road at Hempstead Road, the driver of the second vehicle brandished a firearm and fired several times into the officer’s vehicle, striking the officer. The officer returned fire and the other vehicle fled the scene.
The officer drove himself to the Northwest Station, where other officers provided medical attention. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the officer to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center where he was treated and released.
HPD Southwest Patrol Officers located the suspect’s vehicle and detained three occupants without incident. The shooting suspect, Reyes, was arrested and charged for his role in the incident.
Two other occupants Diego Rosales, 22, and Cristian Yosely Marquez, 33, were also arrested. Rosales is charged with with unlawful carry of a weapon in Harris County Criminal Court #16. Marquez is charged with possession of a controlled substance in Harris County Criminal Court #11. As is customary in HPD officer-involved shooting incidents in the Houston city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit and the Internal Affairs Division.
