Investigation into Fatal Crash at 3500 Eastex Freeway

Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 3500 Eastex Freeway (South Interstate Highway 59) service road about 5:35 p.m. on Wednesday (Dec. 10).
The identity of the deceased male, 36, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Lee and Officer N. Luu reported:
The driver of a red Nissan Altima was traveling southbound on the service road at a high rate of speed in the u-turn lane when he failed to maintain a single lane, jumped the curb and struck a support column under the freeway. The driver was transported to an area hospital by Houston Fire Department paramedics where he was pronounced deceased.
There were no other vehicles or persons involved in this crash.
The investigation is continuing.
