Investigation into Fatal Crash at 6100 South Loop East

Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash in the 6500 block of South Loop East (South Interstate Highway 610) about 9:45 p.m. on Thursday (Jan. 8).
The identity of the deceased female, 34, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Sudduth and Officer F. Flynn reported:
A gold Chevrolet Malibu was driving on the main lanes at the above address when it struck a female standing in the main lanes of the freeway next to her disabled vehicle. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced her deceased at the scene.
The female driver, 19, of the Chevrolet remained at the scene. She was determined to not be impaired and was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
