Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 18900 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 9:40 p.m. on Saturday (January 31).
The identity of the deceased male, 29, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer J. Rincon reported:
The driver of a white Dodge Durango was traveling northbound near the above address when the driver lost control and struck a concrete retaining wall. The impact caused the Dodge to become disabled on the main lanes of the freeway.
The driver was standing outside of his vehicle when he was struck by a blue Chevrolet Silverado also traveling northbound. Responding paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene, did not show signs of intoxication, and released.
The investigation is ongoing.
