Investigation into Fatal Crash at 380 South Loop West

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 380 South Loop West (South Interstate Highway 610 West) service road about 2:15 a.m. today (April 6).
The identity of the deceased female, 38, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Bui and Officer M. Lozano reported:
The driver of a BMW, unknown color or model, was traveling southbound on the service road at the above address when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a curb and then struck a concrete barrier. The impact caused the vehicle to catch on fire.
Another driver stopped and attempted to assist the driver out of the vehicle but was unable to due to the fire. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the driver deceased at the scene.
No other vehicles or persons were involved in this crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
