May 1, 2026 —The Harris County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Texas Department of Public Safety, today announced the results of “Operation Felon Hard Times,” a major warrants roundup targeting violent fugitives across the region.
During the month of April, law enforcement teams worked side by side to track down those wanted for aggravated robbery, sexual assault, crimes against children, and other violent felony offenses. In total, 252 arrests were made, and 381 warrants were cleared with charges ranging from murder to sexual assault and aggravated robbery, among other felonies.
“These operations require planning, intelligence, teamwork, and trust,” said Harris County Undersheriff Tommy Diaz. “Every day a violent fugitive remains at large is another day they might harm someone. We refuse to let that happen”.
Significant Arrests and Case Highlights:
Murder Suspect: Corey Comeaux
Corey Comeaux, 24, was wanted for the March 24 shooting death of 31-year-old Joseph Manuel Jr. in Beaumont. On April 8, 2026, the U.S. Marshals’ Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, with assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety, located Comeaux in the Houston area. Once officers saw Comeaux exiting the location, he was taken into custody. Comeaux had made multiple threats to shoot it out with Law Enforcement. Mr. Comeaux is currently in the Jefferson County Jail. He has a $1.5 million bond.
Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Suspect: Carlos Sanchez
Carlos Sanchez, 43, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly shot his stepdaughter in the face because he believed she was disrupting his illegal rooster-fighting ring. On April 10, 2026, Sanchez was arrested by the Violent Person Warrant Task Force. He is currently in custody at the Harris County Jail.
Murder Suspect: Luis Nava
Luis Antonio Aguilar Nava, 34, was wanted for a fatal stabbing that occurred on April 14 in Pasadena. Following the discovery of the victim’s abandoned vehicle in Houston, the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force located Nava at a local motel. On April 15, the task force surrounded a motel in Southeast Houston; Nava surrendered and was taken into custody without incident. He is being held at the Harris County Jail without bond.
Sexual Assault of a Minor Suspect: Joe Nathan Ball
Joe Nathan Ball, 33, a fugitive from Kitsap County, Wash., was wanted for Sexual Assault of a minor, Family Violence, and Harassment. A coordinated effort between the Bremerton Police Department and the HCSO located Ball at a residence in Spring. After the residence was surrounded, Ball surrendered and is now awaiting extradition back to Washington.
Undersheriff Tommy Diaz emphasized that the success of the roundup reflects a unified commitment to protecting victims and holding violent offenders accountable. “At the center of every warrant served is a victim and a survivor whose life was forever altered,” he added. “These arrests will not erase the harm done, but they stop further violence and bring our community one step closer to healing.”
