Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 2323 South Kirkwood Road

The fatal shooting of a male at 2323 South Kirkwood Road about 10:50 p.m. on May 28 will be referred to a Harris County Grand Jury.
The identity of the deceased male is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Detective K. Aloysius reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and located an unresponsive male in a parking lot. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Officers also located two individuals at the scene. The two stated they were walking to a nearby gas station when a male approached, threatened them and assaulted one of them. After the assault, the two individuals said they went into a nearby business.
They stated the same male approached them after they returned outside and were walking past a shopping center and was targeting the same individual who was previously assaulted. That individual produced a firearm and fired at the male, striking him. The witness called 911. Both the witness and shooter stayed at the scene and cooperated with responding officers.
After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office it was determined the shooting would be referred to a Harris County Grand Jury.
