Investigation into Fatal Crash at 9803 South Kirkwood Drive

Houston police are investigating the fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 9803 South Kirkwood Drive about 10:40 a.m. on Friday (July 31).
The deceased pedestrian is identified as Jose Ovalle, 72.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer T. Pham reported:
A gray Chrysler Pacifica was driving southbound in the parking lot of a gas station at the the above address. The Chrysler made a left turn to drive between two gas pumps and struck a pedestrian. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the pedestrian to an area hospital where doctors later pronounced him deceased.
The male driver, 41, stopped after the crash and called 911. After the victim was transported to the hospital the male driver left his information with the business owner and left the scene. He later returned to the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
