Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 150 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) about 5 a.m. on Sunday (Nov. 1).
The identity of the deceased female, 45, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeants K. Bui, E. Alejandro, A. Patterson and Officer M. Keita reported:
A blue Dodge Ram 1500 lost a tire near the above address and was pulled over to side of the freeway. The passenger was standing in front of the vehicle when a silver Subaru Outback struck the Dodge from behind. The impact caused the Dodge to move forward and pinned the passenger between the truck and the concrete barrier.
Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the female passenger to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
The male driver, 69, of the Subaru showed no signs of intoxication and was also transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
