Investigation into Fatal Crash at 11700 Kewalo Basin Lane

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 11700 Kewalo Basin Lane about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday (April 12).
The deceased female is identified as Laura Garcia, 61.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Patterson and Officer C. Nguyen reported:
Ms. Garcia was in the middle of the roadway near the intersection at the above address and crouching down to tend to a small dog when she was struck by a white GMC Sierra pickup truck that had turned onto Kewalo Basin Lane.  The male driver immediately stopped and told officers he did not see Garcia.
Houston Fire Department paramedics transported Garcia to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake, where she was pronounced deceased.
The driver, 21, was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
