Houston police are investigating the fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 13900 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 10:55 p.m. on Sunday (June 29).
The identity of the deceased male, 36, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Yasin and Officer T. Hudson reported:
The driver of a white Hino truck (a construction traffic control vehicle equipped with an arrow board and a rear-mounted impact attenuator, also known as a “Scorpion”) was actively working a roadway closure on the Gulf Freeway at the above address. During the roadway closure, the driver began reversing the vehicle and struck a pedestrian.
Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
