Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 7300 Moline Street

Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal crash that occurred at 7300 Moline Street about 7:40 a.m. today (August 19).
The suspect, Bernandino Bautista, 55, is charged with criminally negligent homicide in the 230th Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Bautista is attached to this news release.
The identity of the deceased male, 62, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer L. Ho reported:
The driver of a black Toyota Solara was traveling eastbound in the 7300 block of Moline when he approached an intersection with a stop sign. The driver, identified as Bautista, failed to stop before the crosswalk and struck the victim who was crossing the street in the crosswalk.
Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.
Bautista remained at the scene and was subsequently arrested and charged.
The investigation is continuing.
