Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2300 Emancipation Avenue
Houston police are investigating the fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 2300 Emancipation Avenue about 8:40 p.m. on Sunday (July 19).
The identity of the deceased male, 68, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Yasin and Officer T. Hudson reported:
A male parked his vehicle in a designated no parking zone, obstructing an unmarked crosswalk at the above address. As the male exited the vehicle and was walking across Emancipation Avenue, he was struck by a blue Chevrolet Equinox. A white Mercedes S550 also struck the male.
Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the male to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The male driver, 57, of the Equinox and male driver, 41, of the Mercedes both remained at the scene. Both drivers did not show signs of impairment and were questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
