Houston police have arrested a second suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 11715 South Glen Drive about 5:40 p.m. on May 2.
The second suspect, Malik Baker, 18, is charged with capital murder 176th Criminal District Court.
Another suspect, Gary Johnson, 21, is also charged with capital murder in the 176th Criminal District Court. Booking photos of Baker and Johnson are attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Caleb Mitchell, 19.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives G. Rangel and H. Montealegre reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex at the above address and found a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a breezeway. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
Investigators learned the victim exited an apartment to meet someone when he was shot. Two males were seen fleeing the scene.
Further investigation identified Gary Johnson as one suspect in this case. On May 27, Johnson was arrested by HPD Westside Division’s Gang Unit. He was charged for his role in the fatal shooting and booked into the Harris County Jail.
Investigators identified Malik Baker as the second suspect. He was arrested in New Orleans, Louisiana on August 14 and subsequently charged for his role in this shooting on August 21. He is awaiting extradition to Harris County.
