Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 8701 Gustine Lane

Houston police have arrested a suspect charged with the fatal shooting of a woman at 8701 Gustine Lane about 5:45 p.m. on Thursday (June 18).
Rony Arnoldo Alvarado Amaya, 24, is charged with murder in the 486th Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Amaya, who remains hospitalized, is not available at this time.
The victim is identified as Angelica Loredo, 27.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives P. Michon and J. Robles reported:
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address and were directed to the apartment where the gunshots had been heard. Officers entered the apartment and found two persons inside the bedroom suffering from gunshot wounds.
Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the female victim deceased. The male suspect, later identified as Amaya, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
Further investigation determined Amaya had shot both himself and the female victim. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted, and a charge of murder was accepted.
