Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 1628 Vassar Street

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a male at 1628 Vassar Street about 11:55 p.m. on June 27.
The identity of the deceased male, 45, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Stroble and Detectives A. Finlay, K. Aloysisus, and E. Camacho reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and were flagged down by a male who identified himself as the shooter. The shooter stated he was involved in a physical altercation and during the altercation he produced a gun and discharged it, striking the male victim.
Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.
The male shooter cooperated with investigators.  The investigation into the shooting incident is ongoing.
