Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 6015 Dale Carnegie Lane
Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a woman at 6015 Dale Carnegie Lane about 7:50 p.m. on June 19.
The suspect, Michael D. Franklin, 46, is charged with murder in the 179th Criminal District Court. A prior booking photo of Franklin, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Ladana Murrell, 44.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives H.Montealegre and G.Rangel reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex at the above address. Officers found a woman with a gunshot wound in an apartment entrance doorway. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced her deceased at the scene.
A witness stated the woman and a man were involved in a physical altercation that escalated into a shooting. The male fled the scene. Further investigation identified Michael D. Franklin as the male. He was in a dating relationship with the victim.
Detectives consulted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and Franklin was subsequently charged for his role in this incident.
